(Start Here) – How To Buy An Engagement Ring
You’ve decided to take a big step with someone special. Now you’ve got to buy the right ring and
propose with confidence.
I know exactly how you’re feeling because I was recently in the same position. I started researching engagement rings, and everything I read felt like an advertisement. I wanted someone to give me an unbiased opinion, and give me the information so that I could make my own decisions.
Fast forwarding a little bit, I researched everything there is to know about rings and diamonds. I bought a great ring, popped the question, and we’re engaged! But before I forgot everything, I put this website together to share what I’ve learned with others.
Get started by clicking one of the links in the menu above, or here below.
- How to Pick a Diamond – Start here to learn the basics about how to pick a diamond for your engagement ring. Specifically, we’ll cover the 4 “C’s” of diamond shopping: Carat, Cut, Clarity, Color.
- How to Pick a Band – Lets talk about settings and band styles, including the “Tiffany” setting, the classic solitaire style, side stones, and halos.
- Where to Shop – The landscape of the engagement ring market is changing. Sales are moving online, people are more concerned about ethically sourced, conflict-free diamonds, and despite these changes some old names are still surprisingly very relevant.
- Recommendations – These are some of my recommendations. I provide an analysis of some traditional choices from well known retailers, some styles from newer players, and some solid un-traditional choices. Keep in mind this section is highly opinionated, and you and your future fiancee may have very different opinions. Still, I stand by my recommendations. As they say, there’s no accounting for taste.
One note. If you use Ad Block, this website won’t work properly. Some companies were kind enough to let us use their product images, but if you block ads you won’t get to see any recommendations or tutorial examples. Please whitelist the site so you can get the most out of it. Thanks!
